Collagen Protein Powder for Bodybuilders

What is Collagen?
Collagen is the purest form of natural protein, which is produced by our body, but decreases with age and hence, needs to be ingested as a supplement. Like all proteins, it is formed of amino acids. Collagen contains 18 amino-acids, including 8 out of 9 essential amino-acids.
Collagen is a natural protein (exists naturally in our body), is essential to human life: It is 1/3 of total body protein content (2/3 of the skin)
  • It holds it all together: Skin, bones, muscles, blood vessels, tendons, cartilage, teeth
  • Collagen decreases with age and hence ideally needs to be ingested as a supplement
  • Collagen Protein consumption shows improvement in body composition by enhancing levels of fat-free mass (FFM), bone mass (BM), isokinetic quadriceps strength (IQS) and sensory-motor control (SMC)
  • Collagen Protein significantly lowers levels of fat mass (FM)
  • The mixture of amino acids in collagen peptides is superior compared with whey protein in maintaining Nitrogen balance and body weight during a low-protein diet
  • Collagen Protein contains relatively high amounts of arginine and glycine, both known to be important substrates for the synthesis of creatine in the human body. Creatine has been shown to improve both muscle mass and muscular function in some studies
  • Collagen Protein consumption increases microvascular perfusion, and thus increases amino acid delivery
  • Collagen Protein has shown to positively influence microcirculation, therefore, this might cause an additional beneficial effect in promoting muscle growth compared with other protein sources
  • Finally, several investigations have shown that collagen peptides significantly reduce pain in subjects with osteoarthritis as well as functional joint pain. Therefore, it could be speculated that the subjects who were supplemented with collagen peptides were able to perform the resistance exercises with less pain, and therefore had a better training gain
  • The ratio of protein in collagen peptide is consistently between 91%-to-95%
  • Collagen Protein has 0 (zero) fats and zero carbohydrates
  • Collagen Protein has holistic health benefits beyond muscle health: Skin lightening, anti-aging, UV damage protection, strengthening of joints, bones, and cartilage.
Here are some of the various ways that I incorporate Nizen Proteins Collagen into my day:
  1. Blended into fruit smoothies.
  2. Stirred into anti-inflammatory Golden Milk, made with coconut milk and turmeric.
  3. Mixed into homemade bone broth, to boost the collagen already in the bone broth.
  4. In coffee and tea.
  5. In homemade ice cream (stir in a spoonful or two before processing in the ice cream maker).
